Kross House has been architecturally designed by Figr Architecture, it was inspired from classic coastal living, but with a fresh, modern feel. The layout is built around a cross-shaped design that runs both north-south and east-west. Where the two axes meet, is a versatile zone that works as both a breezeway and a deck. It’s a space that opens up or closes down depending on the weather, making it super adaptable all year round. Timber plays a huge role throughout the house, covering both the outside and inside. It helps tie everything together and really grounds the house in its natural surroundings. Underneath the raised structure, there’s a hidden garden designed by Mud Office.
What really brings it all together, though, is the way the house was built. There’s a level of care and craftsmanship here that’s hard to miss. Every detail, from the timber joinery to the way the materials come together, shows the pride and precision of the tradespeople who worked on it. You can tell this wasn’t just another job for them—it was something they truly put their heart into. The build itself went smoothly, and the end result is something that feels both beautifully finished and incredibly livable. It’s a home that’s been carefully considered from the ground up, and it shows in every corner.
New architectural single level home built for a young family who are passionate about modern design. To maximise space and light, a raked celling and glass atrium were built,
while clever zoning of bedrooms and entertaining areas makes for a home
that is as practical as it is stylish. The design centrepiece is an exposed brick chimney
crafted from recycled bricks, lending a timeless narrative to the space.
